Octavian secures new patrol vehicles with economy drive
The replacement fleet of Ford Fiesta ECOnetic models will be used for security patrols in the Midlands

Leading security provider Octavian Security has stepped up its commitment to becoming a more environmentally friendly business by investing in several new, greener patrol cars.

The replacement fleet of super-efficient Ford Fiesta ECOnetic models will be used for security patrols and alarm response calls throughout the Midlands, whilst considerably lowering the company¹s CO2 emissions over the previous fleet.

The 1.6-litre turbodiesel-engined cars produce just 87 grams of CO2 per kilometre, which is so low that they are exempt from both road tax and the London Congestion Charge. They can also average 86 miles per gallon around double what an average hatchback can achieve.

Tony Mellor, commercial director at Octavian Security, said:  “In keeping our costs low by spending less on resources like fuel, we can keep our charge rates low. We can also demonstrate to our clients that we are working with them to reduce their carbon footprint.“

“We will be adopting similar vehicles throughout our nationwide fleet whenever replacements are due.”

Octavian Security, which holds the internationally-recognised ISO 14001 environmental responsibility accreditation, has already taken several steps to reduce its carbon footprint.

These include installing automatic sensor controlled lighting in its offices, reducing its paper usage by 40 per cent, monitoring energy use and installing trackers in its vehicles so that the nearest patrol is always despatched to an incident.
