Globally-operating Octavian Security has hired highly experienced commercial director Tony Mellor to help sustain the business's push for further growth.

Reporting directly to Octavian founder and Chief Executive Officer Sukhi Ghuman, Tony moves to the post from palletised freight distribution network Pall-Ex, where he successfully carried out a similar role.

Sukhi commented: "Tony is a high-calibre marketing and business development operator and was therefore an ideal person to join a team of directors whose goal is to take the business to even greater heights."

In his new role, Tony will be a direct report for a number of disciplines, including Facilities Management, the International Development Team, IT and Market Research, in addition to his responsibilities for Marketing, PR and Procurement.

Tony, an award-winning emda Business Champion, commented: "This is an ideal opportunity for me to use my skills and experience in a professional organisation that really is changing the image of an industry."

Tony began his career as a clerk at an insurance company before eventually being part of a four-man team, which launched an innovative firm of brokers and grew it to a nationwide concern, with 76 branches.

The company acquired by a major financial institution, after which point Tony put his skills and experience to good test when he joined a FT-SE100 Software Plc to head their marketing.

In 2004, Tony was recruited by Pall-Ex to control PR, Marketing and the Customer Services, Procurement and Telesales teams, becoming integral to the company's development as one of the leading businesses of its type.
