Security specialist Octavian Security has been appointed by The GBA Group to provide manned guarding services for a number of its vehicle import terminals across the UK.
The GBA Group is one of the UK's largest and most recognised providers of logistical solutions to motor manufacturers and shipping lines. The appointment will involve the deployment of over 40 security officers to provide 24-hour total security for the import terminals.
"This is a landmark business opportunity for Octavian and marks the company's intent to continue with its ongoing penetration of the European logistics, distribution and warehousing sector," explains Octavian Group managing director, Sukhi Ghuman.
"Our experience and references show that we operate a simple yet effective manned security ethos. We train our officers well, ensure that they have total supervisory support and deploy our teams with the very latest communications equipment to ensure operational synergy with our clients."
The appointment will see Octavian's officers guarding the import, storage and distribution of 500,000 vehicles each year. Octavian has also introduced a ‘Port Security' module to its in-house training division, to act as a yearly refresher course to its experienced officers and for the benefit of new recruits.
Octavian, in partnership with GBA and Constabularies across the UK, has also established a unique scheme known as ‘Port Watch', which has been set up to enhance Octavian's visionary strategy for this port security contract. This section of the work will be headed up by Octavian Security director Michael Burrows, ex-chief superintendent and head of operations at Nottinghamshire Constabulary.
Octavian will be utilising a number of its ex-Gurkha regiment security officers on this business, now famed in the UK for their high-profile roles across the UK, including IKEA, public transport security and numerous logistics, distribution and warehousing contracts.
