| ISC East announces a new educational programme for its upcoming conference |
ISC East, the largest security event in the Northeast United States, announced recently a new addition to the educational program at this year’s conference: a three-session program called “Demystifying the Mass Evacuation and Notification Market.” The new program will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19 at New York’s Javits Center during the 2014 ISC East conference and is offered free to those interested in understanding the market demands and opportunities.
Known as both Mass Evacuation Systems (MES) and Emergency Communication Systems (ECS), this quickly-emerging market begs for “holistic” education that encompasses sound and communication, fire and security in one cohesive package. To provide this more comprehensive look at mass evacuation/notification, the three one-hour ISC East sessions will help attendees fully understand the market, obtain multi-discipline information, plan for the future, and identify a team that provides the best long-term solution for the customer.
“This corner of the security market is constantly seeing growth and change – and it’s important for those in the security profession to be able to ask questions of some of the industry’s most respected and knowledgeable speakers, and ultimately determine how best to succeed,” said Sandra Jones, Principal, SJandCO. Jones coordinated the new sessions with John Stofa, Municipal Account Manager, Honeywell Fire Safety. “This new educational program is geared at attracting more fire professionals, AHJ’s (authorities having jurisdiction) and existing dealers or installers on the mass notification side of the market,” she added.
“Understanding and Defining the Market” is the first session in the series and is presented by Stofa and Roopa Shortt, AV Marketing Manager for System Sensor. The session focuses on the history, evolution and growth opportunity of the mass notification and evacuation market, as well as where to start with product selection and design.
Stofa also will present the second session, “Building for the Future,” along with Jack Poole, Principal of Poole Fire Protection. The session will help attendees discover new ways of developing partnerships and alliances to build a cohesive solution team learn what codes and requirements are driving this market, and how to obtain new information to stay up-to-date in this fast-paced industry.
The third session, “Plans in Action,” examines the elements of a project and explores system design from various perspectives through case studies and will help attendees evaluate the information necessary to satisfy codes, customers and AHJs. The session will be presented by Stofa, along with Ryan Ockuly, National Sales Director of Alertus Technology, and David Smith, Business and Channel Strategy with Lencore.
