MOBOTIX cameras secure Kreissparkasse Kaiserslautern bank head office
"At Kreissparkasse Kaiserslautern we're using MOBOTIX cameras in our head office, which was renovated in 2007. Apart from a couple of older analogue models in the underground parking garage, only high resolution MOBOTIX network cameras are installed. The cameras have been running without any problems for more than 5 years at many of our branches. Thanks to our good experiences and the detailed images these cameras deliver, we intend to equip our other branches successively with MOBOTIX systems." Carsten Clemens, security officer at Kreissparkasse Kaiserslautern.

Maximum security

Bank security experts recommend end-to-end surveillance of a bank's head office. This can easily mean that 25 or more cameras are needed to ensure the best protection. In addition to BGV C 9-certified cameras at the teller counter, this can include:

 MOBOTIX monitor
Mobotix Q22M hemispheric camera can be mounted on the ceiling or on the wall

  • Cameras in the foyer
  • Weatherproof cameras for outdoors use
  • Cameras in automated teller machines
  • Cameras in corridors and passages
  • Cameras at all self-service terminals
  • Cameras in parking garages
  • Cameras at emergency exits
  • Cameras in the vaults

Minimum investment

It is easier, faster and more cost-efficient to install MOBOTIX cameras than any other camera systems because they are easily connected and powered via the network cable. The type of recording is also critical when it comes to controlling costs. You can use either the internal recording option in the camera (e.g. 16 GB SD card) or standard network-attached storage (NAS, server) to record the data from all cameras that are installed. Thanks to the internal software in the MOBOTIX cameras, such network-attached storage has enough capacity to record ten times as many cameras as normal.

Certified security thanks to MOBOTIX:

Outline of the VBG regulations

In Germany, it is the Verwaltungs-Berufsgenossenschaft (the VBG or Employers' Liability Insurance Association for Administrative Occupations) that lays down BGV regulations for the banking sector. To prevent robberies and to protect the bank staff, the VBG has specified requirements for video surveillance systems in its regulation BGV C 9. The main provisions of this regulation are as follows:

  • The quality of the images must enable the perpetrators and the different stages of a robbery to be identified.
  • The recording must encompass a period beginning 15 minutes before and continuing for 15 minutes after an alarm.
  • The recording speed must be one image per second before an alarm and two images per second after an alarm.

MOBOTIX - Certified according to
BGV C 9

Certification according to BGV C 9 is standard for MOBOTIX products. All camera models and the associated video surveillance software MxControlCenter are certified according to BGV C 9 and form a complete system.

MOBOTIX - Beyond BGV C 9

All MOBOTIX cameras are high-resolution products and deliver smooth video including lip-synchronous sound at 1536 lines. That is 2.5 times the resolution of a TV image (4CIF) and 5 times that of standard recording in CIF or 2CIF format. This means that only one MOBOTIX camera is needed to cover the area of two conventional cameras.

One MOBOTIX camera instead of four other cameras?

Dual cameras such as the D12D feature two HiRes lenses. A single D12D can therefore monitor four teller areas at the same time, and do so in compliance with BGV C 9.

MOBOTIX cameras can hear, too

Cameras from MOBOTIX have a microphone and loudspeaker. This enables you to protect your bank and prevent robberies with audio as well as video.

Systems that exploit synergies

MOBOTIX manufactures both cameras and the video surveillance software that the cameras use. This ensures that the two components will interact in compliance with BGV C 9, a function that is not self-evident with systems from other vendors. Although MOBOTIX video surveillance systems already exceed the requirements of BGV C 9, you can raise the level of protection even more at no extra cost simply by increasing the settings for recording time and recording speed.
