MOBOTIX’s CCTV solution strengthens security at Strathallan School
Eclipse (IP) designed and implemented an 8 MOBOTIX CCTV cameras solution based on M12 day and night camera
MOBOTIX AG, a leading manufacturer of digital high-resolution, network-based video security systems have released details of an installation of its MOBOTIX CCTV solution implemented by Eclipse (IP) Ltd which has increased security for pupils at a leading independent school. Eclipse (IP) installed the 8-camera installation on time and within budget after the original incumbent CCTV supplier had failed to meet the requirements for an earlier phase of the project with a rival analogue CCTV system.

Founded by Harry Riley in 1913, Strathallan aims to provide boys and girls from 9 to 18 years of age with such a range of academic work, games and activities that there is an opportunity for everyone to excel at something. Strathallan is already one of the best-resourced co-educational boarding schools in Scotland with all its boarding accommodation for both boys and girls of modern design and build. Recent upgrading and improvement has seen the completion of a new ICT teaching facility, second synthetic hockey pitch, major dining hall refurbishment and refurbishment of the swimming pool.

Since implementation of the MOBOTIX CCTV system, the cameras, software and video storage have worked flawlessly

In 2008 to meet increasing demand for places, the School began a major project to provide an additional senior girls' boarding house. Due to the relationship that Strathallan had built up over the past few years the school turned to Eclipse (IP) for advice.

Eclipse (IP) designed and implemented an 8 MOBOTIX CCTV cameras solution based on M12 day and night camera running from a shared Gigabit Ethernet network. All video is stored on a fully redundant 1TB NAS and accessed via MOBOTIX MxControlCentre software from the site manager's office. The whole project was delivered in record time to ensure the building work was not delayed, allowing the boarding house to open in time for the new academic year in September 2009.

"Phase 3 of our CCTV installation was completed successfully to time and budget by Eclipse (IP)," comments Antony C Glasgow, Bursar and Clerk to the Governors of Strathallan School. "The interface between Eclipse (IP) and Ogilvies for the new boarding house build was smooth and resulted in the CCTV system being operational as soon as the House was occupied."

Since implementation of the MOBOTIX CCTV system, the cameras, software and video storage have worked flawlessly. "The option of upgrading our Phase 3 system was achieved at no additional cost to the project," Glasgow adds.
