Milestone Systems, the global leader in open platform IP video surveillance management software, has signed a Milestone Solution Partner agreement with OPAX, a video analytics developer based out of Norway.

OPAX develops software with unique detection technology, a type of Video Content Analysis (VCA) that is one of the fastest growing segments in the security market at the moment.  With Research & Development conducted since 1974, OPAX is a pioneer in this rapidly growing video analytics market.  The company has a unique and scalable system for intrusion detection and perimeter surveillance under demanding outdoor conditions.

"Our solutions have been well received by the oil and gas industry, as well as airports, harbours, police and other high-end customers," says Paul Saetre, VP Sales & Marketing of OPAX.  "The Milestone agreement makes it possible for us to deliver complete surveillance systems to our partners."

OPAX developed one of the first truly advanced video detection systems available for commercial use, which was originally created for the Norwegian Defense Research establishment.  Intensive testing showed detection rates above 98% and very low false alarm rates.  Today, the system runs on standard components, has a modern architecture, and is scalable from one to an unlimited number of cameras.

"Being an innovative company specialized in the exciting industry of video analytics, OPAX represents a very important future partner for Milestone.  It is the Milestone strategy to build alliances with industry leaders, and the partnership with OPAX is an excellent example of the ability to provide customers with best-of-breed surveillance solutions," adds Henrik Friborg Jacobsen, VP Strategic Alliance Partners and Co-Founder of Milestone Systems.

The Milestone Solution Partner program builds on the latest innovations occurring in the market.  Professionals on the forefront with highly developed expertise like OPAX have the vision to take advantage of the integration opportunities available with the open platform of Milestone software.

Using the Milestone SDK (Software Development Kit), these partners are producing exciting new offerings that combine the world's leading IP video surveillance management tool with other security systems like intrusion detection, face or license plate recognition, access control, or business systems like Point Of Sale and Automatic Teller Machines.  This interoperability translates into solutions that provide even greater efficiency, savings and performance for organizations looking to get the most out of their investments.

OPAX exhibited their solutions last week at the Milestone Integration Platform Symposium held in Copenhagen, including a dedicated break-out session that gathered enthusiastic participants.  The two-day conference introduced the OPAX intrusion detection and perimeter surveillance to 200 security experts from 27 countries.
