The Sony SNC-EB520 camera was selected for its intelligent image analysis

The installation included 290 SNC-EB520 cameras and 13 Milestone management servers

Background

TerniEnergia, founded in 2005, works in the field of waste management, energy efficiency and renewable energy including photovoltaic technology. Since 2011, TerniEnergia has been operating in Greece as TerniEnergia Hellas M.e.p.e. to develop, construct and operate photovoltaic plants.

The first phase in Greece began with two factories and the second phase involved the construction of nine additional sites covering a total perimeter of approximately 15 km.

The challenge

The layout and scale of the sites and their isolated location proved a challenge for TerniEnergia in terms of security. They required a solution that would guarantee the security of the plants during the construction phase as there were various valuable materials located onsite.

The Sony solution

TerniEnergia appointed Innovasys SRL for their integrated security solution which included intelligent video surveillance, perimeter security and monitoring of the gates and technical rooms. The installation included 290 SNC-EB520 cameras and 13 Milestone management servers with video streaming managed through the Milestone XProtect software platform.

The Sony SNC-EB520 camera is quick and easy to install thanks to its Easy Focus function and its PoE (Power over Ethernet) capability. The camera features a maximum resolution of up to SVGA (800 x 600) with the capability to support three codecs as well as a dual streaming feature. In addition, the Exmor CMOS sensor delivers high image quality with low noise even in poor lighting conditions.

The result

The installation was completed on time and its success has set the standard for subsequent security deployment projects for the company. All systems have been tested and are running incredibly smoothly thanks to the simple and effective integrated technology.

Why Sony was selected

The Sony SNC-EB520 camera was selected for its intelligent image analysis, together with the fibre optic detection system for the protection of physical networks on the perimeter. The customer felt assured that the Sony solution would enable the identification of critical events and ensure timely and systematic detection of potential intrusions.

The customer was impressed with the camera’s day/night function as the mechanical function provides improved sensitivity to a wider range of lighting conditions compared to a purely electronic function. Another important factor was the reliability of the camera as continuous video capture is guaranteed thanks to IR illuminators that were separately installed at each camera point at a distance of approximately 50 metres.
