The new ACM integration allows Milestone XProtect users to access Open Options DNA Fusion access control software

Open Options, a leading provider of open platform access control, expands their integration with Milestone Systems Video Management Software (VMS) to include a new interface to their new add-on, the XProtect® Access Control Module (ACM).

While Milestone XProtect® VMS has been accessible from within Open Options DNA Fusion access control software for several years now, the new ACM integration allows XProtect users to access Open Options DNA Fusion access control software from within the XProtect Smart Client.

Milestone introduced the ACM in late 2013 to provide access control dedicated functions in the XProtect Enterprise, XProtect Professional, and XProtect Express Smart Clients to enable users to effectively monitor events, manually control passage, and conduct access event investigations. The plug-in based integration framework of the XProtect ACM allowed Open Options to integrate and provide another choice in bringing a unified solution to the end customer.

“Open Options is very excited to be demonstrating the interface between DNA Fusion and Milestone’s XProtect Access Control Module at ISC West. The recent introduction of the ACM add-on by Milestone has allowed Open Options a simple yet powerful way to deliver our access control events and data into the XProtect Smart Client. This expanded integration benefits the end customer by giving them a choice in where they monitor and manage their unified security system,” said Brent Doherty, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Open Options.

“We are very excited that Open Options, a long-time Milestone Solution Partner, sees the benefit of providing customers with the ability to send access control events to the XProtect Smart Client,” said Reinier Tuinzing, Milestone Systems Strategic Alliance Manager, Americas. “There are increasing requests by Milestone customers who want the option to view the access control events on the XProtect Smart Client, and the XProtect Access Control Module supports Milestone Solution Partners to quickly and easily accomplish that integration.”

Accessing DNA Fusion from within the XProtect Smart Client offers an array of valuable features including the ability to:

  • View live events and alarms.
  • View personnel photos along with card information at the door for visual verification.
  • Associate video and cameras with access-controlled doors.
  • Add overlay buttons for door control (momentary unlock, change reader mode, etc.).
  • Add overlay buttons for direct commands such as facility lockdown.
  • Aid in investigations by filtering searches to easily find what is needed.

Open Options demonstrated the Milestone Systems XProtect ACM at “the largest physical security trade show in North America” – ISC West in Las Vegas, April 2-4.
