Issue

In order to comply with recently introduced international anti-terror legislation regulating, among other things, 7k+ Volt power stations, Pelco by Schneider Electric was selected by a Norwegian Power Utility to provide a video security solution. Complementing its existing physical security protocols, the utility also looked at ways in which video could help deliver proactive maintenance capabilities to ensure the uninterrupted availability of power to its customers.

Solution

A combination of Sarix TI Thermal Imaging Cameras and Sarix TI Cameras featuring Thermographic functionality met both physical security and process management requirements with a single solution.

Result

Integrated with an application specially developed for the Milestone Platform, Sarix TI Thermal Imaging Cameras have proved a powerful solution. Ideal for 24-hour surveillance, such an approach enables security operators to detect, recognise and identify objects in any lighting condition.

Critically, Sarix TI Thermography provides accurate temperature readings of power plant equipment, helping the utility to anticipate, identify and address potential points of failure before they happen, resulting in continued operations and limited downtime.
