The integration to provide features and benefits unprecedented within the security industry for outdoor perimeter applications
Optex detection products will be integrated into the XProtect platform through add-on Milestone device packs

Optex, Inc. and Milestone Systems recently announced that Optex perimeter security products will be fully integrated with Milestone XProtect Corporate and XProtect Enterprise IP video management platforms. The result will provide features and benefits unprecedented within the security industry for outdoor perimeter applications.

Optex detection products will be integrated fully into the XProtect platform through add-on Milestone device packs available summer 2012. Device packs will be available for:

Redscan Laser-Scan Detectors that identify moving objects’ size, speed, and distance from the detector.  The devices process that information with a unique algorithm, resulting in a highly reliable detection system with minimal false alarms.

PIE-1 POE Alarm IP Encoder, which when used with *Redwall SIP series detectors and *Fiber Defender, converts alarm signals to an IP signal sent to the XProtect video management software (VMS). The POE functionality also powers Optex devices. PIE-1 will be available summer 2012.

Redwall SIP series, Passive Infrared Detectors, which use synthesized intelligent algorithms for reliable detection.

Fiber Defender, which is a fiber-based intrusion detection system from Optex’s Fiber SenSys business.

“Integration of innovative Optex products into the Milestone VMS platform will enable more accurate and reliable video analytics by reducing false alarms,” says Ryosuke Miwa, Optex’s general manager of global sales and marketing. “The integration of Redscan area and object data into the Milestone open platform will give unprecedented value to Milestone customers in mission-critical government and commercial applications.”

“The addition of Optex sensors to XProtect VMS installations will provide our customers with an innovative tool to achieve reliable, sophisticated perimeter detection surveillance,” says Martin Friis-Mikkelsen, head of strategic alliances at Milestone Systems.

Milestone’s open-platform XProtect Corporate and XProtect Enterprise VMS offerings provide comprehensive capabilities for managing IP video surveillance in medium- and large-scale installations, primarily multi-site, multi-server deployments. Among the outstanding functionalities of the Milestone software are:

Maps: Interactive, multi-layered maps that provide comprehensive visual overview of cameras and physical layouts, providing supreme situational awareness and improved response time.

Alarm Manager: Integrated with the map function, it gives a consolidated overview of security and system alarms, for immediate visual verification.

Camera Navigator: An innovative feature that collects camera locations, names and view areas, making complex locations easy to navigate for efficiently tracking moving objects.

Optex and Milestone are highlighting the new capabilities at ISC West in Las Vegas March 28 to 30, 2012.
