ZyXEL Smart Connect technologies have been implemented across ZyXEL switches, QNAP VioStor NVR and top brands of cameras
The smart IP surveillance solution combines ZyXEL's Smart Connect technology and QNAP’s VioStor NVR

ZyXEL Communications and QNAP System have announced a partnership in delivering a smart IP surveillance network combining Smart Connect technology and the well-known VioStor NVR solution, to bring the one network experience to surveillance applications.

The partnership is also the realisation of the vision of the ZyXEL One Network, providing customers with fast, efficient, truly integrated networking while migrating from analogue surveillance systems into full IP surveillance networks. The smart IP surveillance solution was presented in Security Essen 2014 at QNAP booth No. 9-112E from 23rd to 26th September 2014.

Maintaining and watching over an IP surveillance network with a mixture of different brands of IP cameras deployed is never an easy job. It takes time and energy to identify the root of problems, or even where the devices are, when network errors happen. To relieve customers from these exhausting chores, ZyXEL Smart Connect technologies have been implemented across ZyXEL switches, QNAP VioStor NVR and top brands of cameras. With ZyXEL One Network protocols incorporated into the QNAP VioStor NVR, it realises streamlined IP camera deployment and labour-saving operations. The inter-device intelligence also facilitates efficient network management by providing intuitive network topology display, graphical interface with rich statistics for information or troubleshooting.

ZyXEL Smart Connect is a key element of the ZyXEL One Network vision, the inter-device intelligence of ZyXEL products from switch, Wi-Fi Access Point and to the Gateway. Smart Connect massively simplifies network maintenance and troubleshooting, by allowing auto-discovery of neighbouring devices, remote viewing of their management interface, as well as remote power cycling and factory reset.

“The benefit of ZyXEL One Network is to provide the customer a clear visibility of his network and through several ZyXEL developed inter-device (Smart Connect) protocols to simplify his day-to-day operation.” said Crowley Wu, AVP of ZyXEL Networking Business Unit. “We’re glad to work with QNAP to further extend our technologies to the IP surveillance network, and we believe the integration of security and network systems will greatly facilitate the installation & maintenance of it.” Crowley concluded.

Qstart, a user-friendly initialisation application of VioStor NVR, brings two leading-edge innovative features – system initialisation and network switch control. It simplifies system initialisation through automatically assigning default configuration by just one single click. By integrating ZyXEL GS2210-24HP, Qstart provides comprehensive network topology and a device list for users to fully control network health and device status. Qstart integrates major functions of ZyXEL GS2210-24HP PoE switch so users can easily setup camera IPs, manage PoE on/off and monitor traffic flow via VioStor software- QVR. Moreover, its intuitive GUI enhances precise failure detection and efficient problem shooting. Qstart absolutely gives users a refreshing experience of NVR installation and remote maintenance.
