MEL Secure Systems, the leading developer of surveillance and security solutions, has launched a new high performance HD-SDI Periscope camera. Designed for law enforcement and broadcast applications in a wide range of mobile or fixed covert surveillance operations, the camera will deliver reliable and resilient performance in all weather conditions.

The new camera includes an HD-SDI interface to transmit uncompressed surveillance images in 1080p resolution at full frame rates over coaxial cable making installation a quick and trouble-free process. It uses a Sony day/night camera module with image stabilisation and transmits HD images at high speed to be received at distances of up to 100 metres without requiring repeaters.

With Pelco-D telemetry RS485 compatibility, the camera has full PTZ functionality with 360?pan and 60? tilt with continuous rotation. An innovative motor drive system allows precise positioning control even when panning at high speed and, because there is no latency, operators can follow specific events with a PTZ joystick, even at the most extreme zoom settings of 30x optical and 8x digital.

According to MEL Secure Systems: “This new HD-SDI camera can be easily concealed in drainpipes and lamp posts or built-in to vehicles to deliver high quality images from a wide range of covert locations to meet individual tactical surveillance requirements.”

MEL Secure Systems also provides a compatible video link, telemetry link, 10.4” LCD colour monitor, camera telemetry controls, rechargeable battery pack and solid state recorder, all of which are built into a rugged, weatherproof case that can be used in any location.
