Mark Simmons will head the UK sales operations for Mayflex

Mayflex, the cabling infrastructure, networking and security solutions distributor, has appointed Mark Simmons to head up the UK sales operations in the position of Sales Director.

Mark joins Mayflex from Redstone, previously Comunica, where he most recently held the position of Associate Sales Director for the Converged Solutions business. Mark was instrumental in taking the company from their cabling routes to offer an extensive portfolio of products and services including wired and wireless Ethernet, managed services, voice and physical security.

Commenting on the appointment Andrew Percival, Managing Director said: "We are delighted that Mark is joining the team, we've spent nearly a year finding the right person to fit our business and we feel that Mark ticks all of the boxes. With his proven track record of driving rapid sales growth across multiple product sets, and sales leadership skills he will complement the existing skills and strengths of our established teams. I have also been very impressed with Mark's enthusiasm and ambition which are key characteristics in such as strategic role."

Andrew continued: "Mark's first hand experience of large system integrators will provide us with a real insight into where Mayflex can further assist our partners. We are already established as one of the best distributors in the industry but we need to keep adding value, introducing new products and solutions and working closely with our partners to help them win more business." Commenting on his appointment Mark Simmons said: "I'm looking forward to the challenge of working on the distribution side of the industry, having been a customer of Mayflex for over 20 years, I'm fully aware of the key strengths of the company and I'm excited to join and help steer the business to achieve their growth ambitions."

Mark began his career working for BT before joining Cableship some 20 years ago. He spent 2 years as the Sales Director for ISG Webb before re-joining what was then Comunica, laterly acquired by the Redstone PLC. Mark joins Mayflex on 10th March 2011.
