Mayflex, the cabling infrastructure, networking and physical security solutions distributor, has successfully raised over £1500.00 for Acorns Children's Hospice. Acorns cares for children who have life limiting or life threatening illnesses and their families across the Midlands region, at its three hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, and through a community team.

The company's annual corporate golf day, which took place on the 5th June at The Menzies Welcombe Golf Course, in Stratford-upon-Avon, successfully raised over £1000.00 from the sales of raffle tickets. A large number of Mayflex's key suppliers were kind enough to donate prizes ranging from luxury food hampers, crates of wine to an I-Pod Touch.

Tracey Calcutt, Marketing Manager of Mayflex comments: "Our customers were exceedingly generous when purchasing raffle tickets at our golf day. This money got us off to a great start. We have also conducted an online customer survey which saw Mayflex donate £10.00 for every completed survey received. The combination of the two activities actually gave us a grand total of £1590.00."

Calcutt continued, "Mayflex continually strives to support Acorns and raise awareness for the Charity. This year alone we have arranged 2 collections of unwanted clothing and bric-a-brac from our headquarters for resale in Acorns' charity shops, conducted the customer survey and held our golf day prize raffle."

"At the same time as these other activities have been taking place, Paul Cave, Market Development Manager at Mayflex has been continuing with his coast to coast charity motorbike ride around the coastline of the UK. Paul is hoping to raise over £6000.00 for Acorns and is currently half way through his 12 month schedule."

Mike Tague, Acorns' Regional Fundraising Manager, said:  "Acorns relies on fundraising for most of its income. Donations like this are wonderful, and we're truly grateful to Mayflex for their dedicated support. This is an impressive team effort by Mayflex, whose corporate Golf Day was such a success. We are so grateful for all the effort that everyone is putting in - not least Paul Cave who has really got on his bike for Acorns."

Acorns offers specialist nursing care and support to children who have life limiting and life threatening conditions, and their families living in the West Midlands. Acorns services provide a lifeline for local families who would face a tough challenge coping alone.

The majority of Acorns' income comes from donations. The charity launched the Acorns Fragile Lives Appeal earlier this year to see it through the current recession, and protect its lifeline services for many years to come.
