Lenel Systems International, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise software, integrated systems and access control systems, recently introduced a new version of the Lenel Network Video Recorder (Lenel NVR) 7.0. Available as a hardware-based turnkey solution or a software-only package for deployment on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) servers, Lenel NVR7 delivers the ultimate in flexibility and open architecture. Lenel is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

“Lenel NVR7 is positioned to better support our customers by increasing focus on video related features, functionality and technology. This investment demonstrates Lenel’s commitment to providing a broader portfolio of video options and allowing customers to better define how they manage, monitor and maintain their video surveillance systems,” said Joe Kirmser, president, Lenel.

Lenel NVR7 is the core video recording platform that will provide video support for OnGuard 2012, Lenel’s industry-leading security platform. The Lenel NVR7 provides support for up to 306 individual cameras models - double that of the prior version.

“Lenel has re-factored and modernised the Lenel NVR7code to comply with transport protocols (Real Time Protocol/Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTP/RTSP) resulting in significant performance enhancements in video storage and retrieval. This new version of the Lenel NVR reduces installation time, facilitates troubleshooting, supports virtual machines and reduces former Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) dependency,” said Jonathan Lewit, digital video solutions product manager, Lenel.

LNVR7 is an integral part of the core technology of the next generation security products, the Lenel Security Platform (LSP). The LSP is based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA) that leverages existing IT infrastructure in terms of server management, availability and maintenance costs. The SOA-based, modular LSP technology will provide all Lenel customers with a pathway to appliance, cloud, hosted, managed, mobile, PSIM, VMS and other solutions demanded by the marketplace.

“Lenel’s vision is to build and support the most innovative, flexible and scalable integrated security solutions in the world, empowering our customers to effectively protect and manage their people, property and assets. To accomplish this goal we will be deploying a focused strategy built around a revived and simplified product portfolio, increased sales coverage and expertise, an improved customer experience and, most important, substantial efforts to develop our people for growth and success,” Kirmser said.
