LEGIC Identsystems Ltd, the leading manufacturer of contactless smart card technology for personal identification applications, and Intercard AG, the market leader in the personalisation of plastic cards in Switzerland, agree on a licence partnership and strengthen their joint position.

Since 1988, Intercard AG has been a successful supplier of products and services in the plastic card personalisation field.  The company develops special solutions for plastic card chip coding.  Its efforts are concentrated on the outstanding quality of its products and the competence of its advice for both individual contracts and the development and introduction of complete solutions.  Its modern printing and personalisation systems make for fast implementation of individual customer requirements.  This makes Intercard a leading supplier in Switzerland.

A life without contactless smart cards has become unthinkable.  Many businesses, retail chains and service providers issue their customers with personalised customer cards as a key part of their loyalty programs.  Clubs, fitness centres and film clubs hand out membership cards that entitle the holders to discounts and special services.  Trade fairs, exhibitions and conferences secure admissions and control their visitors with admission cards.  Finally, contactless smart cards find one of their most important applications in the workplace, where they serve as company employee cards for access to company buildings and can be used for such additional purposes as e-payment solutions.  Intercard AG is specialised in the secure, fast and economical production of such cards and also offers support in their distribution.  In the Intercard Service Center in Urdorf, Switzerland, up to 120,000 cards a day are printed, personalised, coded and directly dispatched from the Mail-shop.  Depending on the use and subject of the card, the card carrier is either pre-printed or the desired design is printed on the neutral card in a single pass.  With Intercard's systems, customers can also print their own, personalised cards in just a few minutes.  It goes without saying that Intercard also offers various coding capabilities.  With the licence partnership with LEGIC and the contactless allin-one-card technology, the company is further strengthening its offer in the field of contactless, personal ID cards.

Bernhard Ostertag, member of the Board of Management of Intercard AG, is delighted with the licence agreement.  "We offer comprehensive solutions for contactless smart cards that our customers can realise either in-house or outsourced in our Service Center.  The partnership with LEGIC strengthens and consolidates our know-how and extends our product range. We are proud to be an official member of the international LEGIC licence network."

Stephen Neff, Vice President Sales & Business Development of LEGIC Identsystems Ltd, also welcomes the partnership: "Intercard has almost twenty years of experience and has confirmed its leading position with numerous contracts from well-known customers.  We are convinced that our partnership will be equally beneficial and profitable for both LEGIC and Intercard."
