LEGIC card-in-card technology, contactless applications
LEGIC will be showing innovative developments in its contactless smart card technology at Cartes 2009
From 17 - 19 November at this year's Cartes & IDentification in Paris LEGIC Identsystems AG will be showing innovative further developments in its contactless smart card technology for secure personal identification. In hall 4, stand N72 the company will be giving live demonstrations of the proven LEGIC card-in-card solutions for the seamless combination of contactless applications on a virtual transponder on its partners' latest technology platforms. In addition LEGIC will be providing information about the latest security solutions for the comprehensive protection of application data using end-to-end security. This means that data can be comprehensively encrypted and protected from the background system right through to the credential.

LEGIC card-in-card solutions

The LEGIC card-in-card technology makes it possible to add applications (e.g. access control) to existing cards as a virtual transponder using microprocessor chips, for instance on contactless credit cards or NFC mobile phones. At Cartes LEGIC will show how easily an existing dual interface card or UBS token can be extended in just a few minutes to become a multiapplication credential. Thus for example a credit card can become a multifunctional club card, a public transport ticket or can grant access to fitness centres and lockers. At the same time, dual interface cards can be prepared in advance for a later LEGIC application. This allows to easily add any application on existing smart cards from third party suppliers at a later stage.

End-to-end security with LEGIC advant

The latest security solutions for the comprehensive protection of application data, using end-to-end security

LEGIC will also be presenting the further developed LEGIC advant technology, which meets the latest security requirements for contactless systems. The comprehensive security package of LEGIC advant supports a variety of encryption standards (AES 128/256 bit, 3DES, DES) and offers an extensive security for the entire data path, from data storage on the card, the transfer to the terminal and to the background system (end-to-end). Thanks to the high flexibility of the LEGIC advant technology, the high-tech encryption can also be retrospectively applied to existing systems at any time.

In this way, together with the card-in-card technology, contactless applications such as ticketing, access, biometric etc. can easily be integrated onto smart cards of the state-of-the-art security classes. Converged solutions from the contact and contactless worlds are easily achievable at attractive prices.
