The two renewed contracts cover the maintenance of BVG’s emergency and information system and the central control station for the handling of emergency calls

The contract involves maintenance services for CCTV and information infrastructure to Berlin’s main public transport operator, BVG

Synectics plc has announced the extension of two major contracts for its European transport operation, Indanet, to provide maintenance services for CCTV and information infrastructure to Berlin’s main public transport operator, BVG. The total value of the two, four-year contracts is €4 million.

Munich-based Indanet has provided integrated security solutions for the BVG network, the largest contiguous urban transport network in Germany, since 1995. The two renewed contracts cover the maintenance of BVG’s emergency and information system and the central control station for the handling of emergency calls. Both relate to the security of the subway network, which delivers 936 million passenger rides a year.

Christoph Bergdolt, CEO of Indanet, said: “Through a strong and co-operative relationship with BVG, we have developed a solution that has helped to improve security and passenger experience within Berlin’s public transport system. Increased surveillance has led to a reduction in violent crimes and property damage from graffiti. Our control system also enables dispatchers to deploy and co-ordinate responses faster and with far greater precision.”

John Shepherd. Chief Executive of Synectics, said: “The renewal of these two significant contracts demonstrates the Group’s ability to win, keep and grow large-scale projects of critical public importance.

“In addition to these contract wins, Indanet is also in discussion about new opportunities with BVG.”
