Avigilon Corporation, provider of security solutions, announced its latest innovation in video analytics capabilities with the launch of Avigilon Unusual Motion Detection (UMD) technology, available in its upcoming Avigilon Control Center (ACC) 6.8 video management software.
A new level of automation
UMD is an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology that brings a new level of automation to surveillance and is designed to reveal events that may have otherwise been missed. Without any predefined rules or setup, UMD technology is able to continuously learn what typical activity in a scene looks like, and then detect and flag unusual motion.
This allows operators to search through large amounts of footage faster, as UMD focuses their attention on the atypical events that may need further investigation, helping to reduce hours of work to minutes.
“Today, most recorded video footage is never viewed, meaning critical events may go undetected. Avigilon is using artificial intelligence technology like UMD to help our customers effectively extract valuable insights from their video data,” said Dr. Mahesh Saptharishi, Avigilon's Chief Technology Officer. “As UMD technology continues to evolve, it will provide operators with advanced capabilities for both forensic investigations and real-time preventative security.” The enhanced ACC 6.8 user interface allows users to filter their recorded video timeline
Solving real-world challenges
The enhanced ACC 6.8 user interface allows users to filter their recorded video timeline and automatically review the unusual motion events. These events are displayed in an intuitive playback screen that intelligently guides users through highlighted clips.
“The launch of UMD technology demonstrates how Avigilon continues to solve real-world challenges through advancements in AI and video analytics,” said James Henderson, Avigilon’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “Over time, this technology will dramatically change the way our customers interact with their security systems by automatically focusing their attention on unexpected events requiring decisive action.”
At launch, Avigilon UMD technology will be compatible with the Avigilon H4 box, bullet and dome cameras, expanding to other cameras in the portfolio throughout the year. Existing customers will be able to upgrade certain legacy products to benefit from this exciting new technology.
