The Avigilon solution helps law enforcement and security personnel manage situations by providing HD video in real time

Avigilon, a leading global provider of end-to-end security solutions, recently announced that the University of Tennessee (UT) has deployed the Avigilon end-to-end solution to safeguard its students, employees and guests, as well as to enhance security across its campus.

Real-time HD video

One of the oldest public universities in the United States, UT is located adjacent to downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. It has more than 27,500 graduate and undergraduate students with an expansive campus that spans 550 acres. UT has 230 buildings, including Neyland Stadium, which is one of the largest college football stadiums in the United States and is home to the Tennessee Volunteers (Vols). The Avigilon solution helps law enforcement and security personnel manage situations by providing high definition video in real time.

"The University of Tennessee is committed to keeping its campus as safe as possible and the Avigilon solution is an important part of our day-to-day security procedures and our emergency management plan," said Brian Browning, UT's Director of Administrative and Support Services. "We invest in only the best technology across campus. With the new school year underway and the Vols' first game around the corner, we look forward to the enhanced security this solution provides."

Campus safety

On football game days, the University of Tennessee hosts up to 130,000 fans on campus. Game day festivities include the Vol Walk, a tradition that allows fans to welcome coaches and players as they enter the stadium. Throughout each game, law enforcement personnel can monitor activities and provide the logistical security needed to host large crowds. Security personnel also monitor the interior and exterior of the stadium before, during and after each game.

"Campus safety and security is critically important today, particularly for large universities responsible for thousands of students and faculty each day," said Avigilon's Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Bryan Schmode. "The University of Tennessee's innovative practices and technology make them a leader in the security space. We are proud that the university is one of Avigilon's largest university partners."

Avigilon and the University of Tennessee collaborated on a video case study highlighting the Avigilon solution and its successful installation at the campus.
