ASIS International, the association for security management professionals, announced its keynote lineup for Global Security Exchange (GSX) 2019, to be held from September 8-12 in Chicago. The exciting schedule includes presentations from leading authorities with experience and expertise in international security, politics, homeland security, cybersecurity, and corporate security.
“GSX 2019 will feature an impressive line-up of keynote speakers that truly reflects the diverse and evolving nature of the security profession, as well as the issues beyond security that ASIS members face each day,” said Christina Duffey, CPP, President, ASIS International. “These distinguished executives come from different facets of the security industry, and we know that GSX 2019 attendees will benefit from their insights and expertise.”

Demetriou will provide insight into what it takes to create a more connected and sustainable worldTuesday’s general session (8:30 am – 10:00 am on September 10) will feature Steve Demetriou, Chair and CEO of Jacobs — a multinational engineering company with more than 77,000 employees around the world. In his ‘Bold Solutions for Changing Times’ address, Demetriou will provide insight into what it takes to create a more connected and sustainable world and discuss how Jacobs is delivering innovative thinking and impactful ideas to connect people and places with the means to work smarter and live better.
After his remarks, Demetriou will be joined on the stage by Joe Olivarez, Jacobs’ Chief Security Officer, for an informative Q&A session, observing first-hand, what it means to bring security to the table in the overall equation for success.
Wednesday, September 11 is Military & Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at GSX 2019, which honours the individuals who make our communities and world a safer place. General John F. Kelly, U.S. Marine Corps (RET), headlines the general session (8:30 am – 10:00 am), and as a thank you for their service, all law enforcement, military and first responders will receive free admission to GSX that day, including access to General Kelly’s keynote.

Wheeler is an inaugural contributing cybersecurity expert for the Washington PostThe GSX 2019 closing general session on Thursday, September 12 (8:30 am – 10:00 am; open to all GSX registrants, including Expo-Only registration) will feature Tarah Wheeler, Cybersecurity Policy Fellow at New America, who will discuss ‘Protecting Assets in the Age of Cybersecurity Leaks and Scandals: How to Plan When Risk is a Moving Target’.
Wheeler is an inaugural contributing cybersecurity expert for the Washington Post and a Foreign Policy contributor on cyber warfare. She is the lead author of the best-selling Women in Tech: Take Your Career to The Next Level with Practical Advice and Inspiring Stories, as well as an information security researcher and political scientist in the area of international conflict. Wheeler will be introduced by Brigadier General Stefanie Horvath, current leader of enterprise service delivery for the state of Minnesota. After her presentation, the General and Wheeler will lead a lively Q&A session drawn from their very different vantage points related to cybersecurity.
