The Aratek BIONE fingerprint algorithm recently achieved top scores in the MINEX (Minutiae Interoperability Exchange) III evaluations administered by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The test measures the accuracy and interoperability of proprietary minutiae templates along with their level of compliance with the U.S. Government’s Personal Identity Verification (PIV) program by extracting and matching the proprietary minutiae templates against the ANSI/INCITS 378:2004 minutiae data format standard.

Best-in-class status in interoperability

‍“We are pleased that the BIONE algorithm passed the MINEX III Test with flying colours,” said Samuel Wu, Aratek’s VP for Sales, International Business Department. “We have had our sights on the MINEX III test for quite some time as the NIST is responsible for developing measurement standards for a particular service or product."

"The fact that the BIONE notched top scores serves to confirm its best-in-class status in interoperability, well as its ability to generate fast, economic, and accurate interchange of compact biometric templates,” Wu noted.

‍PIV credentials

Wu said that passing the MINEX III boosts BIONE’s PIV credentials, and is a milestone in Aratek’s bid to offer its solutions to more PIV applications around the world. “Aratek is all about the coming together of hardware, software, and algorithm to ensure that our fingerprint solutions create real value for our customers everywhere in a wide range of applications,” Wu added.

‍The Aratek BIONE delivers unparalleled interoperability, being both platform-agnostic and sensor-agnostic. It enables full integration with other platforms and can manage multi-vendor or cross-version solutions, regardless of what software or hardware is used.
