ISC East delivers all encompassing Industry event "Best Show in 5 years!"

Jam-packed aisles, innovative products and ideas, ongoing business transactions, beneficial informational sessions, IP Institute, keynotes and more!  Every inch of the Jacob Javits Center's floor was bustling with activities on Oct. 24 -25, as ISC East, co-located with Infosecurity NY, Reed Exhibitions' leading event in the information security sector, delivered the latest in security for the Northeast.

Opening day kicked off at 9 a.m. and marked the beginning of ISC East's most attended and successful show yet. Pending a third-party attendance audit, preliminary attendance numbers indicate a 15 percent increase over 2005's number for a final count of 10,004 industry professionals.  A healthy crossover of executive and corporate management IT professionals from Infosecurity attended ISC East, which partially contributed to the overall increase.  These IT professionals represented key markets including Education; Financial; Government; and Consulting areas.  With a larger show floor, approximately 69,000 square feet up from last year's 65,000 and an additional 50 manufacturers exhibiting, ISC East delivered value for its customers.

"We continue to make a concerted marketing effort to our core attendee base -- dealers and integrators from the fertile Northeast, but we have also concentrated on the end-user audience as well, with a particular focus on executive titles," explained Dean Russo, Group Vice President, ISC events.  "As a result, we saw a larger number of top level security professionals at this year's ISC East and the co-located Infosecurity from stellar end-user companies such as Amtrak, AT&T, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Con-Ed, Deutsche Bank, Colgate Palmolive, FBI, JetBlue, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, the State University of New Jersey at Rutgers, Pfizer and the University of Pa.  We are quite pleased with the turnout and expect that momentum will build for next year's event."

Several key manufacturers, such as ASSA ABLOY, Bosch, Brinks, DSC, Honeywell Security, IR Security & Safety, and Tyco, returned to this year's event after several years of not participating.

"We heard that ISC East was making a comeback," said Kim Carito, Senior Manager, Marketing, Tyco Fire & Security, "and that's definitely borne true over the past two days of the show.  We were pleasantly surprised at the number of high-level end-users in attendance."

Other manufacturers echoed that sentiment:  Richard Sedivy, Director of Marketing, Doorking, Inc. said, "This was the best ISC East show in five years.  The attendance was beyond what we anticipated when preparing materials for the show.  We completely ran out of our supply of CD's and catalogs because there was so much interest in our products."

Other manufacturers, such as Rob Zivney, Hirsch Electronics, commented on the profitability of his company participating in the show, while others noted the increase in attendance.

Through ISC Education, sponsored by SIEMENS, ISC East also offered security professional two days of in-depth, hands-on learning experiences.  Cutting edge, industry-first education sessions presented by leading authorities from companies such as Cisco, Georgia Pacific, Global Security Risk Management, and Henry Bros.  Electronics, Inc. gave security professionals the opportunity to identify the latest trends and gain insight and education on the issues that are facing the industry.  Topics covered include systems design, technology applications, networking/IP, homeland security, CCTV/surveillance and management issues.

Attendees were also given the opportunity to become IP Institute certified through a full day course.  Taught by industry experts in the consulting, end-user, and IT disciplines, security professionals learned the skills needed to better understand the specifics of IP based integrated security systems implementation.

Other highlights of the show include the Opening Day Keynote presented by Assistant Director in Charge (ADIC) of the New York Office of the FBI, Mark Mershon, and Day Two's keynote, "Not on my Network," was presented by a conference panel of five security pros on the topic of convergence.  The panel included Ron Moritz, Chief Security Strategist at CA; Boulton Fernando, former CSO of Technicolor, now at Indymac Bank; Irene Lam from Tyco Fire & Security, and Jim Henry, CEO of Henry Brothers Electronics.  The panel was moderated by Bob Bragdon, publisher of CSO magazine.

ISC East is sponsored by Security Industry Association (SIA) and endorsed by the New York Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NYBFAA).
