When it comes to CCTV there is no room for complacency.  I cannot emphasize enough the importance of effective installation and maintenance, it is frustrating to still see instances being reported where CCTV could so easily have played a pivotal role, only to find out that for some mundane reason the evidence was not captured.

The bottom line is that there is little point in money being invested in the latest state-of-the-art solution if it is not maintained or set-up correctly.  It is up to all of us in the industry to ensure that what we do, and the actions of our customers, does not lead to situations where incidents happen and cameras are not working, hard disks have not been replaced, a detector is not in the field of view of a camera, or illumination is ineffective.  It may seem obvious but without care and attention all the good work of the vast majority of providers is undermined and questions start to be raised about the use of this technology.
