Bentall's management desired a system that could capture and record video without compromising on the quality |
The management at Bentall in the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames required a system that could capture and record video, at all entrances, with sufficient quality to allow them to recognise and identify everyone who enters the busy complex. They needed the system to operate equally well under all lighting conditions especially in evening during late night shopping hours.
Zada reviewed all the analogue options, but the extensive cost of adding dozens of new cameras to cover the required areas made it cost prohibitive to go this route. Zada then approached both J2K Video and JVC and came up with a solution that provides the necessary image quality with significantly reduced installation costs.
The system uses J2K Video's SharpView NVR to record a number of JVC Megapixel IP cameras. SharpView Manager Professional software is used to view live and playback the video. Coupled with their existing analogue CCTV system, security staff can now go back to the new entrance cameras should an incident occur and be able to extract identifiable images of suspects.
J2K Video's SharpView NVR and IP camera management system, is designed first and foremost around Megapixel and HD camera technology. The ease of operation of the SharpView Manager GUI makes viewing and retrieving video and still images a simple process. By recording the Megapixel cameras in M-JPEG, the quality of the recorded images is exceptional.
Taking the proposal back to the client and explaining the various options and associated costs, Marcus March, Bentall's operations manager, was pleasantly surprised to find that by going with the newer technology he would be getting far greater image quality than he expected at a significantly lower cost.
Zada's system designers made use of the four fold quality improvement using JVC's Megapixel VN-X235VPU cameras which meant that only a quarter of the number of alternative PAL cameras was needed. J2K Video's SharpView NVR easily met the requirement for recording the extra quality so Zada were able to significantly reduce the overall cost of the system.
