| Roelof Temmingh, Yuri Gubanov and Lee Whitfield are additional speakers for the EU summit |
With more than 15 years in the security industry, Roelof Temmingh has been a top speaker at events including BlackHat, Cansecwest, Defcon, FIRST and RSA, as well as a tireless tool developer including Maltego, the popular open source intelligence and forensics application.
Yuri Gubanov, a highly respected speaker, researcher, tool developer and lecturer at the St-Petersburg State University will also be presenting at the Summit for the first time this year. Gubanov is the man behind Belkasoft, a collection of tools for Instant Messaging analysis. His research in that field has made him one of the world experts in IM artefacts, a key component in most investigations today.
Joining the Summit is Lee Whitfield, the voice of the popular Forensic 4cast and the widely recognised Forensic 4cast Awards. Whitfield is also a passionate forensic investigator and researcher who has pioneering research and tool development in areas such as Windows Shadow Copies Analysis, where he developed Shadow Analyser, the first tool capable of analysis of shadow copies on dead HD images.
"Digital forensics is at a pivotal moment in its history with individuals still capable of developing pioneering tools, processes and techniques that can quickly become international best practice," explained Jess Garcia, Lead SANS Forensic Instructor EMEA and a Summit organiser, "The event is about recognised experts and peers within our community sharing knowledge, expertise and strategies to help advance our industry at a time when demand for forensics is outstripping capacity in many areas."
Over the 21st and 22nd of September at the Thistle Hotel Marble Arch, the EU Summit will focus on the biggest threats and challenges that are behind headline making breaches. The event will provide insights from some of the top experts in the field on how to react to these attacks and potentially prevent them through a deep understanding of their strategies. Other speakers and panellist include author Andreas Schuster, databases forensics expert David Litchfield, Forensic investigator and Verizon Data Breach report co-author Jelle Niemantsverdriet and Malware expert Righard J. Zwienenberg from Norman.
The agenda will be expanding and evolving over the coming weeks, right up to the event itself, to ensure that it covers the most up to date and cutting edge information. Following on from the two day Summit, SANS will also be running the 5-day training course, SANS FOR610: Reverse Engineering Malware: Malware Analysis Tools and Techniques from September 23rd - 27th.
