With the recent announcement of a shortlist of eight possible sites for Britain's first Las Vegas-style ‘super-casino' - and licenses available for 16 smaller casinos - we are likely to see a continued growth in opportunities for CCTV manufacturers and suppliers who can deliver effective systems to the gaming industry.

CCTV surveillance - covert and overt - has become an essential component of operations; in fact in many jurisdictions it is very much a prerequisite for a gaming license.  The demands on casino security managers are considerable, having to ensure that the casino's assets, staff and patrons are safe in a fast moving, frenetic environment.  This is were network enabled digital video servers are proving their potential to keep casinos secure and combat underhand tactics at gaming tables and slot machines, by integration with strategically placed cameras and allowing the distribution of video and audio on demand to anywhere on a network, even via a PDA to the pit boss.

With events often happening in an instant at the gaming table, being able - as on the latest solutions - to select real time recording and lip synchronized audio, can help deal with even the most subtle of deceptions by the fraudsters.
