Welsh Assembly opts for performance based and design led fire detection and voice alarm solution from Vision Systems

Vision Systems is pleased to announce a successful collaboration with leading security and fire protection services provider Chubb who has specified an advanced integrated fire solution for the Welsh Assembly's new Headquarters in Cardiff.

The £50 million Assembly Building, designed by Lord Richard Rogers expresses the status of the Assembly and symbolises Welsh democracy in the 21st century.  As a unique landmark building, it is situated in a prominent position in Cardiff Bay and set to open on schedule in August 2005.

The system designed by Chubb's Scott Philips and project managed by Barry Parker delivers the extended capability of Vision Systems fire protection product offerings, which now incorporates Milllbank's voice response systems.

Working with Parker from the outset, Vision Systems provided an integrated fire solution that met his exacting specifications.  Its performance based design delivered unparalleled reliability and fused unobtrusively with the aesthetics of this stunning new build project.

Featuring a powerful combination of VESDA TM LaserPLUS and VESDA LaserFOCUS TM early warning smoke detectors, it also combined Millbank's sophisticated voice alarm solutions.

Millbank supplied its new 10MAX system and uses local input facilities for the meetings rooms, coupled with DsPAC amplification and SAM8 loudspeaker monitoring.  In order for the system to blend seamlessly into the building's cutting edge design, the speakers are either integrated into the light fittings or mounted behind custom-built wooden grilles.

Providing an innovative multi-purpose system, Chubb realised its objective to supply a contemporary and aesthetically pleasing solution, which offers 24/7 protection across all 3 levels of the building.

Chubb's Project Manager Barry Parker commented:

"Vision Systems expanded product offering definitely meets the demands of modern multi-purpose installations.  Increasingly we are asked to offer solutions that do not compromise on aesthetics.  VESDA's design is perfect as it provides assurance of the earliest possible warning of a potential fire without conspicuous sensors.  Whilst Millbank's experienced design team provides inventive solutions ensuring that VA systems can be heard but not seen."
