Trub’s tachograph smart cards are made from polycarbonate and are equipped with a chip storing holder data
Trub AG is a market leader of tachograph smart cards and has produced over 2.5 million cards till date

Four further countries have chosen Trub AG for the supply of tachograph smart cards: Macedonia, Moldavia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. With 12 countries, Trub AG is now the market leader for the tachograph smart cards first introduced in 2004. The cards are made from polycarbonate and are equipped with a chip. Since the introduction of digital tachographs, Trub AG has manufactured and supplied more than 2.5 million cards.

The introduction of the digital tachograph has, among other things, increased the safety of Eurpoean goods traffic. An on-board vehicle unit records the periods of motion and rest of commercial vehicles. In the late nineties, the European Union decided to replace the mechanical tachograph system, which was prone to tampering, with a reliable digital solution. In the meantime, 43 states have adopted this law engaging them to have digital data recorders installed in goods vehicles of over 3.5 tonnes and in buses with more than 8 seats by 2006 (EU members), or at the beginning of 2011 (Members of the AETR agreement), respectively.

The central elements of the digital tachograph system are the vehicle unit, the motion sensor and four different smart cards (driver card, company card, workshop card and control card). The latter contain individual keys and certificates for secured access to the data and functionalities of the vehicle unit.

With Macedonia, Moldavia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, Trub AG now supplies 12 countries with tachograph smart cards

The system records periods of work, motion and rest, as well as vehicle speed and the distance covered. Disruptions and events (e.g. inspection, calibration, etc.) are likewise recorded. The data can be shown on the display of the vehicle unit or printed using the integrated printer.

Trub's tachograph smart cards are made from polycarbonate and are equipped with a chip storing holder data as well as PKI certificates. Trub's scope includes manufacturing tachograph smart cards and, depending on the country, data preparation, card personalisation and lettershop services. Trub has also implemented custom-made solutions in various countries for card personalisation based on Trub's own personalisation software package, TrackStar.

Germany, Finland and Estonia were among Trub AG's first customers in 2004. With Macedonia, Moldavia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, Trub AG now supplies 12 countries with tachograph smart cards. As of today the company has produced over 2.5 million tachograph smart cards.
