Security and safety markets are booming in Asia-Pacific
The economy in Asia-Pacific is growing ahead of the rest of the world prompting a high demand for security products. An example of increased security demand is government investment in homeland security by strengthening advanced surveillance, screening, and access control systems at major airports and border checkpoints.
According to the latest Frost research on Asia-Pacific homeland security markets, revenues were USD 20.5 billion in 2007 and are estimated to reach USD 36.2 billion in 2014.
Network security market in the region is also on the rise in tandem with the growing economy and increasing awareness of the need of implementing adequate information technology security. The Frost research shows that the network security market covering 14 Asia-Pacific countries was worth an estimated USD 1.81 billion in 2008, grew to a record high of 17.9% year on year.

Thailand, the gateway to Asia's security market
The Thai government's overall annual spending on security and safety products is estimated at USD 70 million and is expected to grow between 5% to 10% annually. In the next few years the government is making huge investments in updating airports, shipping ports, infrastructure, tourism and retail sectors and these will create enormous business opportunities for security service enterprises.
As well as being the acknowledged gateway to the Southeast Asia market, Thailand serves as the entry point into the Greater Mekong market. It shares geographic proximity and similar cultural and religious influences with other Mekong sub-regional countries such as Burma, Cambodia, southern China, Laos and Vietnam which are newly emerging markets with huge business potential.
Intersec Thailand is part of the global trade fair brand Intersec of Messe Frankfurt, which is headed by the annual Intersec in the Dubai. The brand consists of four trade fairs, held in China, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates and Thailand. Messe Frankfurt also holds a leading trade fair on security in Argentina.
