U.S. Customs and Border Protection Deputy Commissioner, David V. Aguilar, will open the 7th Annual Border Security Expo on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona at the Phoenix Convention Center. Aguilar was appointed deputy commissioner of U. S. Customs and Border Protection April 11, 2010. Since Dec. 30, 2011 Deputy Commissioner Aguilar has been CBP’s highest-ranking official, leading the agency responsible for integrated border management, which includes immigration control and trade and travel processing, Aguilar leads a workforce of 60,000, including 43,000 uniformed law enforcement officers. Aguilar served as acting commissioner Dec. 30, 2011-August 29, 2012. He became an agent in 1978, earning the 2005 President’s Meritorious Excellence Award and the Presidential Rank Award in 2008.
Border Security Expo is one of the most highly anticipated events for those involved in border security, customs, immigration enforcement and national security. In less than six weeks, 2,000 law enforcement professionals, local, state, and federal policy makers, and industry, will convene in Phoenix to hear Aguilar outline the CBP’s directives. Following the keynote, Border Security Expo will offer two days of education, networking and training.
