With increased demand for high-security door locks in all the vertical markets we serve, the last year has been very good for Securitech. Looking forward, we expect this across-the-board growth to continue, as we continue to listen and respond to customer demands and closely monitor industry trends.

In recent years, the security industry has witnessed a growing trend towards development of user-friendly access control solutions that enable customers to have complete control over the entire security system. With new entrants in the security market, it is important for manufacturers to listen closely to customer needs and develop innovative solutions.

"Invisible" access credentials with smartphones

The biggest trend we are seeing is "invisible" access credentials coming into their own, thanks in large part to technologies that enable smartphones to be used as electronic keys for locking and unlocking doors. In addition to increased user friendliness and convenience, an added bonus of these mobile solutions is that electronic keys may be sent, revoked and monitored via smartphone app or text message, allowing remote administration without panels or complex IT networks and cutting installation costs by up to 75 percent. The inevitable downside will be decreased demand for hard card solutions, meaning providers who focus on these technologies could lose ground.

User-friendly security solutions

This is an example of the industry-wide move toward more user-friendly solutions that are easier to install, network and access – an evolution that will continue into the future. This user-centric model was key to our biggest success in 2015: mechanical locking solutions with electric interfaces specifically designed to meet the needs of the government sector.

Open platforms and standards will only accelerate the growing movement to meet customer demands
The security market is seeing a focus on user-friendly solutions, as well as creating custom systems to meet the specific demands of a customer or market

This is just one example of Securitech’s commitment to providing users with custom solutions to meet their specific needs; in fact, many of our products and technologies were developed as a result of listening and responding to individuals’ needs and concerns.

Custom solutions for users and vertical markets

While developing custom solutions quickly enough to accommodate the large number of requests we receive has been a challenge, we remain committed to doing whatever it takes to deliver the innovative products and custom solutions that meet the needs of our users and vertical markets as a whole in the coming year – and beyond.

This is a transformative time for security, and by delivering on user demands, manufacturers can grow market share while also facilitating the growth of the industry as a whole. Open platforms and standards will only accelerate this growth. Ten years from now, we will look back at 2015 as the dawn of security’s "age of user simplicity."
