Video analytics are in use today in real-world conditions
Developers have made huge strides in the effectiveness, convenience, and reliability of the technologies used in video surveillance

AxxonSoft 2014/2015 Review and Forecast:

Video technology began with simple CCTV systems, but these systems have gradually become more sophisticated, offering both scene analytics and forensic post-analysis. The payoff is found in today's smart security systems.

Video analytics are in use today in real-world conditions – on motorways, underground systems, railroads, stadiums, factories, and as part of Safe City projects.

Simultaneously, great strides have been made in integrating video surveillance systems, access control, fire/security alarms, point-of-sale devices, perimeter security hardware, and other equipment. Specialised industry-specific solutions have been developed for the needs of business, government, and infrastructure operators.

Related to video surveillance, developers have made huge strides in the effectiveness, convenience, and reliability of the technologies used in video surveillance. Analysis quality has leaped forward as well. But have developers thought about how to make these accomplishments relevant and function flawlessly for enterprise-class sites? The answer, of course, is that we can meet this challenge. But to do so, platforms must take into account the needs of larger systems by intelligently adjusting CPU loads, processing massive amounts of diverse information in a high-quality way, automating system processes as much as possible, centralising management and monitoring at a single hub, etc.

Where do we go from here? At AxxonSoft, developers have addressed two pools of new technologies in our latest software version:

The first pool includes tools to manage IT infrastructure and massive data flows, including multi-domain monitoring, video recompression using our Motion Wavelet codec, support for external storage, support for video replication between archives, etc.

The second pool of new technologies streamlines the work of operators. To support timely and accurate decision-making, we have implemented such technologies as customisable macros for automated and semi-automated reactions to system events, Tag&Track Pro for concurrent trajectory tracking of objects that move between the field of view of multiple cameras, and integration of edge metadata generated by cameras with the metadata generated by our Axxon Next software.
