Canon VB-C500D - Discreet security monitoring in any environment

Product Profile

Ideal for every monitoring need, the Canon VB-C500D has a 2.4x optical zoom and a wide-angle varifocal lens to cover large spaces. Its discreet design enables it to blend easily into any environment.

Wide-angle varifocal lens

With an ultra-wide 82° field of view and a 2.4x optical zoom, the VB-C500D is ideal for every monitoring need. The wide lens makes it perfect for open areas such as large offices, whilst the 2.4x zoom is useful for narrow spaces such as corridors and ATM terminals.

Compact and discreet

The compact dome housing enables you to monitor your subjects discreetly. The camera can be ceiling mounted, installed in an upright position or even mounted sideways on a wall, to fit in any environment.

MPEG-4 and motion JPEG video

With support for MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG video formats, the VB-C500D can deliver high-quality video with VGA resolution (640 x 480) at up to 30fps. Transmitted footage can be distributed to an audience of up to 30 simultaneous clients (maximum 10 clients using MPEG-4).

Progressive scan CCD

For a sharper view of moving subjects, the progressive scan CCD image sensor minimises the ‘comb' effect often seen in interlaced video. Combined with a genuine Canon lens, this ensures low-noise, high quality images - even when there is a lot of movement in the scene.

Monitoring day and night

With the help of DIGIC NET processing, the VB-C500D can operate in a wide range of lighting conditions. Even in dimly lit areas, activity can still be monitored in colour, down to a minimum illumination of 0.2 lux. In even darker situations, Digital Night Mode automatically changes from colour video to monochrome and increases the sensitivity to provide a clearer view. In very bright daylight, when the background of a scene is so intense that it's hard to see the main subjects, Smart Shade Control enables adjustment of the contrast of darker areas, making them more visible whilst maintaining the brightness of the lighter areas.

Power over Ethernet (PoE)

The VB-C500D can be powered by the same Ethernet cable that is used to transfer data, without the need for a separate power source. This enables the camera to be placed in many more locations, without the hassle and expense of a separate mains power supply.

Two-way audio

The VB-C500D can transmit and receive full-duplex audio from the camera site. A microphone and active speaker can be connected via an optional interface cable, so live audio can be received from the camera, or a warning message relayed to potential intruders.
