Guidelines to ensure the security of passwords on Hikvision DVR, NVR and IP Cameras:
- Complex passwords – Upper Case Letters + Lower Case Letters + Numbers
- Do not use the same password on other websites, systems and devices
- Log into the camera through the web browser
- Follow pop-ups to install the plug-in or allow it to run on your browser
- Configuration >> Basic Configuration >> Security
- Highlight the desired user and click the ‘Modify’ button
- Enter the new password (strong password is recommended)
Steps to change default password on Hikvision DVR/NVR
- Go to Main Menu >> Configuration >> User
- Select the desired user and click ‘Edit’ icon
- Input the old password
- Check change password box
- Input the new password (complex password is highly recommended)
- Confirm the new password
