Reed Exhibitions today announced that Connected Security Expo will be returning to ISC West, sponsored by the Security Industry Association (SIA), for a second year. The expo is scheduled for April 5-7, 2017 in Las Vegas.
As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to expand, Gartner predicts that by 2020, 25 percent of all cyber-attacks involve IoT. As such, there is a critical overlap between physical devices and IT security, and Connected Security Expo @ ISC West is the only event dedicated to this area of increasing importance.
The inaugural Connected Security Expo, which took place in April 2016 during ISC West in the Sands Expo, maintained a separate show floor and conference programme.
Bridging the physical and IT worlds
"Being a cloud-based, SaaS model business, System Surveyor found value in having our booth in Connected Security Expo @ ISC West," said Lisa Hugman of System Surveyor, a Connected Security Expo @ ISC West 2016 exhibitor. "It's helpful for the industry to note those companies which are bridging the physical and IT worlds, and having businesses such as ours grouped together in the Connected Security Expo helps. We were pleased with the quality and quantity of booth traffic."
Merging Connected Security Expo with ISC West
In 2017, Connected Security Expo will undergo several enhancements. First and most importantly, the exhibits will take place within the ISC West Exhibit Hall, making the experience much more convenient for attendees that are visiting both critical events.
"The 'connecting' of Connected Security Expo to ISC West is in response to direct feedback from last year's attendees," explained ISC and Connected Security Expo Senior Vice President and General Manager Ed Several. "Feedback from last year's event was overwhelmingly positive from attendees, but as physical and IT security merge, it makes sense to keep this complementary content closer in physical proximity at the show."
Dedicated education tracks
The 2017 event will also include dedicated education tracks within the SIA Education@ISC conference programme. This unique content is programmed by a Connected Security Expo advisory board comprised of industry experts including Matthew Rosenquist, cyber security strategist at Intel Corporation.
"Security and technology are intimately tied together," said Rosenquist. "Cyber is key to the future of physical security and yet if security breaks down, technology is undermined. Cyber and physical security are becoming more symbiotic every year."
Confirmed sessions and speakers will be announced in December.
