Paige Datacom Solutions will introduce two important and innovative cabling products at the Global Security Exchange (GSX) in Dallas, TX, Booth 3985.
GameChanger Cable, a proven and patented solution that significantly exceeds the reach of traditional category cable will now have an FEP/FEP construction. This will enable the cable to span across indoor plenum and outdoor locations and withstand extreme temperatures and challenging conditions. At GSX, Paige is also introducing the industry’s first composite cable to support both traditional Wiegand and the new OSDP access control protocols.
FEP/FEP GameChanger Cable
This newest version of GameChanger Cable has its insulation and jacket constructed with FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene), a material that provides exceptional resistance to moisture, chemicals and extreme temperatures.

“For particularly tough environments, this gives customers an extended distance Ethernet solution that eliminates the expense and challenge of trying to add boosters or electronics in difficult conditions which are prone to fail,” said David Coleman, VP of business development for Paige.
Important benefit of GameChanger
The FEP/FEP GameChanger can be used as an indoor/outdoor plenum–where the cable can run indoors (without conduit) and extend outdoors (in conduit) and operate effectively in wet environments. This capability adds an important benefit where GameChanger is already widely used for applications including voice, video, data, and Wi-Fi.
Additionally, with its ability to endure extreme temperatures and its resistance to oil and gas, the FEP/FEP construction of GameChanger is an efficient way to extend network coverage in typically challenging applications, including oil and gas facilities, transportation and infrastructure and cold storage facilities.
GameChanger Cable
GameChanger Cable delivers 1Gb/s Ethernet and PoE+ up to 656 feet (200 metres)
Overcoming the challenges of extending Ethernet power and connectivity beyond 100 metres, this solution eliminates the need for extra hardware and its susceptibility to harsh conditions. “Whether facing frigid temperatures, intense heat or chemically demanding environments, our product lives up to its name as a GameChanger,” said David Coleman.
GameChanger Cable delivers 1Gb/s Ethernet and PoE+ up to 656 feet (200 metres) and 10 Mb/s Ethernet and PoE+ up to 850 feet, eliminating intermediate IDF requirements and the need to install repeaters, power supplies and other equipment.
OSDP/Wiegand access control composite cable
At GSX, Paige is also introducing a composite cable that will work with either OSDP or Wiegand access control installations. “It’s a hybrid design that gives you real flexibility, because one cable works on either protocol. So, even if you are still installing Wiegand systems today, you can be ready for OSDP tomorrow,” said Coleman.
For nearly fifty years, Wiegand was the legacy protocol to transmit data between card readers and access control panels. The open supervised device protocol (OSDP), is the newest standard from the Security Industry Association (SIA) to improve security and interoperability among access control and security products. When installers and end-users decide to adopt the OSDP standard, this hybrid cable will help ensure a seamless transition.
Paige’s new cable
Paige’s cable for Wiegand and OSDP is a construction that provides four plenum-rated components
Paige’s new cable for Wiegand and OSDP is a composite construction that provides four plenum-rated components together in a single jacket. “In our efforts to make it easier to adopt this new technology, we want to put a cable into the hands of installers that can work with either system–and do it the right way,” said David Coleman.
He adds, “That means we had to ensure the card reader element contains low capacitance pairs to transmit RS-485 for OSDP while also providing heavier gauge conductors for longer distance power transmission.”
Security distributors
With six total conductors, it gives installers the option to leverage legacy Wiegand conductors and support OSDP readers even at long distances.
The part number for the GameChanger FEP/FEP Cable is 258950806. The part number for the OSDP or Wiegand Access Control Composite Cable is 236650807. Both are available through major security distributors, including ADI, Anixter/WESCO and ScanSource.
