Hikvision, a supplier of innovative video surveillance products and solutions, exhibited the latest in innovative technologies at the China Public Security Expo (CPSE), a large security exhibition in the Pan-Asia-Pacific region, 29th October – 1st November in Shenzhen.
Continuing to solve real-world challenges and create value for end users in multiple vertical industries, Hikvision demonstrated its advanced technology in three main areas: Edge computing, Cloud services integration, and Industry applications.
Edge computing
Edge Computing is a method of optimizing IP cameras, NVRs, and cloud computing systems by performing data processing and analytics at the “edge” of the network – that is, nearest to the source of the data. This relieves the datacenter from concurrency stress by moving huge amounts of processing to edge nodes, improving agility, real-time responsiveness, and system stability. Hikvision’s deep learning products – the DeepinView Series Cameras and DeepinMind Series NVRs – are currently the industry’s best examples of Edge Computing.
Powered by high performance GPUs and deep learning algorithms, the DeepinView series cameras provide striking AI technologies. These intelligence-based functions include false alarm filtering, facial detection, people counting and vehicle structured data.
The DeepinMind embedded NVRs took inspiration from the human brain to perform astonishingly accurate false alarm filtering and other smart functions. To demonstrate this, the DeepinView Dual-Lens People Counting Cameras counted visitors coming and going at the entrance and exit of Hikvision’s stand at the CPSE exhibit. Also, the Tilt Dual-lens Pedestrian Density Cameras were installed to count pedestrian density there.

Cloud services integration
Integrated data from edge products such as the DeepinView and DeepinMind series are then collected and sent to the cloud to create and update big data storehouses. Moreover, Hikvision established a distributed structure incorporating cloud and edge computing, integrating the advantages of the cloud with the agility of edge computing through unified management of data from each technology.
Cloud services enable flexible, on-demand allocation of algorithms and resources, and further provide a variety of open services such as video, big data, and basic security services. Applications of these services meet the needs of a multitude of industries and add significant value to businesses.
Industry applications
Hikvision has successfully applied AI technology into many vertical markets. The company showcased its implementation in many industries at the exhibition, including Smart City, Intelligent Traffic, and Integrated Security Solutions.
With AI Cloud technology, for instance, the Intelligent Traffic Solution provides efficient services for scores of roadway traffic applications. Using the PanoVu Series Panoramic Cameras and stable positioning system, the Cloud Map can change from passive to active monitoring. Based on actual 4K video imaging from inspection-area surveillance, the Cloud Map can perceive traffic information and provide precise, three-dimensional traffic control.
DeepinView Cameras and DeepinMind NVRs
Keen Yao, VP of Hikvision’s International Business Centre, said: “AI technology will continue to become more common and more powerful. This trend will strengthen critical security efforts in every sphere. Now, Hikvision’s DeepinView Cameras and DeepinMind NVRs and Servers will lead the way in this new world of video surveillance technology by making invisible intelligence visible for users, and then putting that intelligence to good use.”
New Hikvision products were also displayed at CPSE, including front-end products like the four-lens PanoVu Series and DarkFighterX cameras; mobile, traffic, and thermal products; access control and alarm systems; and data transmission products. In addition to the video surveillance industry, Hikvision offers smart home tech (Ezviz), industrial automation (Hik Robot), automotive electronics, and intelligent storage, continually exploring news channels for long-term development.
Furthermore, Hikvision's Partnerships are at the core of its long-term business development. The company continues to build close partnerships with distributors, system integrators and installers, as well as third-party technology partners for mutual success.
