HID Global’s sustainability initiatives focus on minimising the company’s carbon footprint, reducing operating costs

HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, recently announced it has been recognised for its efforts in sustainability and environmental responsibility by both customer Johnson Controls and the Austin Chamber of Commerce. Awards extend the growing list of accolades the company has received on behalf of its demonstrable commitment to best practices for reducing the environmental footprint of its global operations, products and solutions.

Embracing environmental responsibility

“We are proud to have been singled out for these environmental awards by our customer and the community,” said Kevin Teehan, Vice President of Strategic Services and Chief Compliance Officer with HID Global. “These recognitions from Johnson Controls and the City of Austin, both of whom are sustainability leaders, validate HID Global’s worldwide business strategy and our corporate culture of embracing global sustainability and environmental responsibility.”

Johnson Controls selected HID Global as one of 16 suppliers during 2015 who made key contributions related to sustainability and other key product attributes. The awards were announced during Johnson Controls’ sixth annual Supplier Recognition and Procurement Excellence Day, a celebration of the strong partnerships that exist between the Fortune 500 Company and its world-class suppliers.

HID Global was also publicly acknowledged for its sustainability achievements by the Austin Chamber of Commerce as part of its 15th annual Greater Austin Business Awards competition, one of the largest business events in Central Texas. The company was chosen from among more than 300 entrants to receive the Chamber’s Intel Environmental Responsibility & Sustainability Award. About 300 companies were nominated for the Austin Chamber’s Business Awards.

HID Global’s sustainability initiatives focus on minimising the company’s carbon footprint, reducing operating costs, and creating green products and solutions for its customers. Key initiatives include a commitment to green building design for all existing operations, remodels and new construction, and an ongoing focus on global best practices for managing sustainability over the long term. Among its many sustainability accomplishments, HID Global has been recognised by the Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) and the Austin Business Journal for its World Headquarters and North American Operations Center, which is the only industrial facility in Central Texas to receive LEED Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The company also has received certification to the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standards at its facilities, worldwide.
