Problem: Re-Keying an Entire Facility
Grace Christian Center, located in Killeen, Texas has approximately 170 doorways throughout 3 buildings, and over 2,000 adult members. With a facility of this size, they faced significant key control issues. “Our biggest concern was having to re-key the entire facility everytime someone lost a key ring, or a master key,” said Pastor Steven Timmerman. The loss of a master key had forced the church to completely re-key the facility three times over a six year period.
Solution: CyberLock
In the spring of 2004, Grace Christian started researching the CyberLock system. By July of that year, they had determined areas that needed immediate attention, and began with the conversion of 6 exterior doorways. The church now has CyberLock installed on the exterior doorways, offices, classrooms, sound booths, children’s ministry, as well as the outdoor basketball court and play area.
CyberLock offers several features that make the system ideal for Grace Christian. “As the person in charge of security, the audit trail has been the most important thing CyberLock has provided us. It has increased accountability,” said Pastor Timmerman. Audit trails can be retrieved from both the CyberLock and CyberKey. Each recorded event identifies who accessed, or attempted to access a lock at a specific date and time. The cylinders do not require wiring of any kind, which saved the church a great deal on installation costs. CyberLocks are powered by a small battery in the back of the key. In addition, the CyberLock system has greatly reduced the number of keys each person has to carry. Pastor Timmerman went from carrying over 20 keys, to now having his single CyberKey for almost all of the locks around the facility. Grace Christian plans to expand the installation by converting closets throughout the facility as well.
