With continual growth in and importance to the global security industry, ISC West, once again, received high marks in Las Vegas.  Pending a final third-party attendance audit, to be conducted by Exhibit Surveys, Red Bank, NJ, preliminary attendance figures are approximately 10% over last year; which will mark the fourth consecutive year of double digit attendance growth, with total industry professionals in attendance exceeding 25,000.  The ISC West show floor exceeded 300,000 net sq ft with over 1,000 exhibitors.

Some of the highlights included:

  • The launch of SmartHome@ISC which featured products that are part of a fully connected and automated residence.  This new area on the show floor helped dealers and installers to enhance their product offering and discover how to deliver a completely integrated solution for a home.
  • The launch of a new online security industry portal.  ISC365.com received rave reviews from exhibitors, attendees and the press.  Additionally, one-on-one meetings with current and potential industry contributors brought out enthusiasm and excitement for the launch and its impact on the industry as a whole.
  • Now in its second year, Urban Security at ISC West continued to deliver cutting-edge products, services, and solutions for the protection of our cities, public marketplaces, and commercial properties.  Bigger and more comprehensive than last year, Urban Security included over 140 exhibitors including Smiths Detection, BlackHawk Products Group, Boeing, and Rapiscan Systems.
  • The opening keynote, featuring Cisco's CTO for Emerging Markets Guido Jouret, elicited ‘best and most relevant keynote in years' comments from both manufacturers and attendees alike, as the topic of convergence between physical and IT security continues to heat up.
  • On the global news front, ISC West was the place to announce ISC producer Reed Exhibitions' acquisition of the leading security event in Russia, Moscow-based Security and Safety Technologies (SST).  This announcement expands Reed's global security portfolio of 9 events worldwide, including ISC Brasil.
  • In addition to over 90 conference sessions, ISC Education introduced its IP Institute Level 2 course (Physical Security Network Professional-PSNP), a two-day comprehensive, hands-on training program on the convergence of physical security into the IT environment.  The IP Institute Level 1 (Physical Security Network Associate-PSNA) was also offered, training over 125 security professionals on the best practices and newest technologies involved in IP.
  • Close to 100 security press and analysts were on-hand to preview new products, services, technologies, mergers and acquisitions.
  • The New Product Showcase (NPS), presented by ISC West and SIA, increased its level of new product entrants with several new product categories added for the first time.
  • For the first time ISC West occupied 2 levels in the Sands Expo Center, creating Global Expo in Hall G.  Global Expo provided a single place for all attendees to source the latest innovations from international exhibitors.
  • Easier Registration:  Through easy-to-understand and detailed signage, colour coordinated areas, and the online eBadge process, processing registrants at ISC West this year has never been as seamless or as easy, moving through nearly 10,000 attendees in one day.

"We are pleased to see that ISC West fulfills the global security industry expectations," commented Dean Russo, group vice president for the ISC portfolio of events.

"Our goal is to offer numerous advantages to the International security community through business-building and networking opportunities; by imparting thought-leadership on trends and protocols affecting business, and unparalleled access to the North American security marketplace.  We feel we are making significant and meaningful contributions to the sustained growth of the security sector while gaining collaborative insight from our esteemed industry partners: SIA, NBFAA and the CAA.

Industry participants also offered their comments:

Lance Jernigan, American Security Alliance:  "We received information at ISC West on services we never would have found otherwise and enjoyed the industry-specific classes.  The educational training also provided us with new business opportunities and the energy on the show floor was electric!"

Larry Watson, American Professional Services:  "By attending the educational sessions, we are staying ahead in the technology game and remaining competitive."

Joe Arcidiacono, Garden State Security Company:  "The show floor was very impressive with lots of choices of vendors and manufacturers to help us source products and services from a wide variety of manufacturers.  ISC West satisfied our needs by providing multiple ways for our company to create relationships. This is my first year, but it will not be my last."
