The PSIM solution will provide enhanced safety and security for the city of Plano

VidSys, the leading provider of Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software that allows organisations to resolve business and security situations in real time, recently announced that the City of Plano, Texas along with systems integrator Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI), has selected the VidSys PSIM software system to power the City's new centralised security and safety platform. The PSIM solution will provide enhanced safety and security for the citizens of Plano by enabling the City to collaborate and share resources with multiple city agencies and public safety organisations in real-time for more effective and safe responses to emergency situations.

The City of Plano needed a centralised management platform that could bring together all of its disparate security systems and effectively and rapidly scale as city agencies signed on to participate. With VidSys' PSIM software, the City will be able to integrate and manage all of the data from its security systems and devices as well as the data from collaborating city agencies, to enable command centre operators to more easily distribute information to decision makers for improved situation management. The City of Plano's Department of Information Technology and the Plano Police Department will be the first agencies to integrate its security and safety technology into the city-wide security network.

"We wanted to establish a city-wide security platform that would enable us to tightly coordinate with other agencies throughout the city for more effective management of situations," said David Stephens, Director of Technology Services. "With the VidSys PSIM software, we are able to create a security and safety environment where there is one complete view of unfolding situations across multiple agencies and organisations, enabling us to better protect our citizens, first responders, and businesses."

After the initial implementation, the City of Plano anticipates more agencies will join the network and share information garnered from all of the technology in place. Each agency benefits from the increased visibility with a more complete view of the city at no additional cost.

"By establishing a city-wide security platform, the City of Plano is taking a forward-thinking approach to utilising technology for public security and safety," said Dave Fowler, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at VidSys. "The public safety department is setting a great example for other cities nationwide that are looking to adopt pro-active, strategic risk management approaches to safety and security that also minimize risk and reduce operational costs."
