Using ISO 14001 can provide assurance that environmental impact is being measured and improved

HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, recently announced that its Malaysia operation, located in Kulaijaya, Johor, has achieved certification to the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standard. SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, issued the certificate after auditing the HID Global Malaysia environmental management system and verifying that it conforms to the requirements specified in the standard.

“HID Global Malaysia worked tirelessly towards our ISO 14001 certification,” said Kevin Teehan, Senior Director Corporate Sustainability for HID Global. “This achievement illustrates HID Global’s commitment to the environment. ISO 14001 certification is increasingly becoming a customer requirement and we are excited about the level of excellence that this standard provides and to be part of its adoption worldwide.”

The ISO 14001 standard provides tools for companies and organisations looking to identify and control their environmental impact and continually improve their performance. ISO 14001 defines the criteria to which an environmental management system can be certified, and maps out a framework that an organisation can follow. Using ISO 14001 can provide assurance to customers, employees, and stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved. Key areas HID Global focuses on include compliance with environmental legislation, pollution prevention, minimising energy and resource usage, and exceeding customer environmental expectations.
