| IFSEC 2011 Security Industry Awards sees thousands raised for UK charity |
The Awards, which acknowledge the people, products and technological advancements that have played a major part in the security industry over the past year, were announced during a black-tie gala dinner at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Monday 16 May 2011.
The evening hosted by former British Lions and England Rugby Union player Martin Bayfield, boasted a number of sought after items. The auction alone included lots such as: an autographed pair of football boots, football shirt and photograph all belonging to the England and Chelsea captain John Terry; a framed boxing glove and photograph signed by WBA light welterweight world champion Amir Khan; and two Rugby Union shirts, an England shirt signed by the entire 2011 Six Nations Elite Performance Squad (only three in existence) and a Wales shirt signed by the team that played against Ireland in the 2011 Six Nations.
The raffle prizes on offer included a 32Gb Apple iPad; two tickets to see Take That in concert at Villa Park and an LG 32" TV, whilst the casino that followed the gala dinner encouraged many more to dig deep into their pockets.
Jonathan Sandall, Head of Corporate & Trust Funding, Make-A-Wish UK, said, "Make-A-Wish was delighted to be selected as this year's charity partner and have the opportunity to share some of the stories of our wish children."
"Opportunities to reach a new audience and share what we do are of great value to us. And, judging by the enthusiastic auction bidding and buying of raffle tickets it seemed clear that many people took Make-A-Wish to their hearts. Martin Bayfield was a brilliant choice for the hosting, and his skilful handling of the auction must have added a good few £hundreds to the overall result."

In total we raised £13,460.22 for Make-A-Wish UK throughout the evening, with contributions from the auction, raffle and casino."
