Opengear, a leading provider of next generation remote management solutions, recently announced the appointment of Vincent J. Giordano as vice president of Worldwide Business Development and Strategy. A senior executive with more than 20 years of experience, Giordano joins Opengear after serving in previous executive business development, sales and marketing roles for Schneider Electric. In his new role with Opengear, Giordano will provide executive leadership and direction to drive Opengear’s global sales and alliances, as well as to continue developing and driving the corporate strategy.

Giordano has held numerous positions with a focus on go-to-market strategy, execution and innovation. Most ecently, he was VP of Global Managed Services for Schneider Electric, a global energy management organisation. During his time as Schneider Electric, he built a team to successfully deliver software as a service (SaaS) operation in a 170-year-old industrial electrical company. The scope of the group included data centre and global communications infrastructure, as well as network security.

In the twelve years prior to his tenure at Schneider Electric Giordano had founded and grew four businesses including DefendNet Solutions, a venture backed managed Internet security firm where he served as President and CEO. DefendNet grew to a national organisation selling Internet security solutions, both directly to end users and using a distribution model via national cable and telecomm organisations. Giordano earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
