Vicon domes have been deployed to monitor activity in the centre's car park and external areas
A CCTV system engineered by Vicon is playing a major role in creating a community atmosphere and a safe meeting place at Bristol's newest local shopping centre.

Tesco Extra, Carphone Warehouse, KFC, Nationwide and Greggs are among the eighteen retail outlets at Willow Brook Centre, Bradley Stoke that has car parking for over 1000 cars. "We are located close to Junction 16 of the M5 and whilst visitors from outside the Bradley Stoke will be most welcome, we wanted to ensure that thieves and potential trouble makers were deterred from doing so," said Mark Wathern, Head of Security.

Mark and his management colleagues decided it would be best if they could source the individual component parts of the CCTV system from a single manufacturer. "It seemed to us that we would get the best possible benefits from CCTV if the cameras, recording and control equipment were designed to work in harmony," added Mark. "We considered a number of manufacturers who could claim to be able to offer the complete solution but Vicon was able to offer us the best package."

Vicon SVFT W35 domes have been deployed to monitor activity in the centre's car park and external areas with S10 mini domes sited around the shopping mall and VC 600 impact resistant mini domes in corridor areas. In the control room, security personnel are able to monitor live images using a Vicon Matrix to switch cameras as well as retrieve video evidence digitally stored on Vicon Kollector Pro DVRs using ViconNet video management software.

According to Control Room Manager, Scott Lahive, the complete system which was installed by ADT has been a great success: "I have seen a lot of systems working in my time but I have to say that the images captured by the Vicon system are just brilliant."
