Since 1986 Mountain States Imaging has provided document management solutions to organisations of all types, from its facilities in Centennial, Colorado. MSI has the ability to digitise massive amounts of information in a short period of time, and then to not only logically organise the information, but to make it easily accessible for future reference or retrieval.
Securing access points
Clients include organisations from virtually every industry imaginable from biotech to healthcare to finance to government agencies on both the state and US government levels. The one common characteristic of MSI’s clients is that they have large amounts of information in need of organisation and accessibility in a cost effective manner.
Given that the Company deals with many sensitive document categories, there exists a requirement to control access for both employees and visitors to specific areas within the MSI facilities, which is where the ISONAS access control system comes in. Not only are all exterior entry doors protected by ISONAS PowerNet reader-controllers, but some interior spaces have their own card readers with differing levels of security, permissions and schedules.
The system is managed by MSI’s IT department. “It’s important that we are able to demonstrate that the correct people have access to specific areas of our operations,” says Eric Johns, Manager of IT Operations. “The seminar and training rooms are accessible for virtually all employees as well as for visitors on a temporary basis.” “Our server rooms have higher levels of restriction, being limited to IT personnel only. We also restrict access to our production areas.”
Mountain States provides users two levels of security inside the building; one for regular access throughout the building and the other to a higher security production area. The higher security area gives peace of mind to clients such as Government agencies and large corporations that might require ks security clearance or have special handling procedures for their documents and media.
Multiple levels of secure access
The ISONAS Crystal Matrix access control management software application makes it easy to assure that the appropriate people are allowed only into the parts of the building where they belong and on the correct schedules as well.
“We have on average 50 people in the system and it is really quite easy to assure that we add and delete access permissions as we hire new personnel or if someone leaves our employment,” says Mr. Johns. “I found that the all-in-one packaging of the PowerNet makes it possible to easily relocate a reader if our requirements change and to expand the system a door at a time if the need arises.”
