Chubb Fire has extended its contract with the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to include the servicing of fire alarms at the brigade headquarters and 37 stations. Chubb Fire is a business of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
Chubb has been servicing and supplying fire extinguishers to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for six years and was approached by M&E consultants Robert Whetham Associates to tender for the fire alarm servicing. Director Robert Whetham explains: "Since Chubb Fire has taken over the contract, the relationship with our customer has significantly improved - there is more communication and regular feedback."
Chubb Fire service fire detection systems quarterly at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters which includes the 999 response centre, Urban Search and Rescue Centre, International Training Centre and 37 Fire Stations within West Yorkshire which covers Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford, Wakefield and surrounding areas.
Systems are serviced in accordance with BS 5839-1:2002 and Chubb Fire servicing manual, including checking control panel batteries and activating smoke, heat detectors and manual call points.
The M&E consultant turned to Chubb based on its reputation and industry knowledge and has not been disappointed. "Chubb won the tender on its competitive price, but it has exceeded my expectations with its thorough approach to all the tasks it has been set. I would not hesitate to ask Chubb to tender again in the future," said Whetham.
Jane Garland, Marketing and Communications Manager at Chubb Fire says the contract award is a testament to Chubb¹s standing in the industry. "Alarm servicing is an integral part of fire safety as is extinguisher servicing," she adds. "Chubb is proud to continue its long running working relationship with the Fire and Rescue Service."
