The 'Storage and Retrieval Solutions for the Surveillance World' seminar will be presented by Pauline Norstrom
CCTV specialist Dedicated Micros - part of AD Group - announces that it will be hosting two key seminars at IP Expo, at Earls Court 2, in London on Thursday, 21 October, under the 'Life Safety and IP Security' track. These will address key surveillance issues in the IP world from the effective handling of the large amounts of video footage now generated to the security of the infrastructure itself, particularly endpoints where IP CCTV cameras are connected.

The first seminar which is scheduled to run from 11.10 - 11.40 am is entitled 'Storage and Retrieval Solutions for the Surveillance World' and will be presented by Pauline Norstrom who is Director of Worldwide Marketing for Dedicated Micros, a Group Board Director of its parent company AD Group, and at an industry level Chairs the CCTV Section of the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) where she has taken a leading role in the development and promotion of CCTV standards and best practice guidance.

Commented Norstrom: "The session I am taking at IP Expo addresses head-on the reality that video surveillance solutions are generating ever increasing amounts of data from static and mobile systems, deployed across multiple and large-scale sites. As a result there is a pressing need for measures to be put in place to facilitate the effective retrieval and security of this data to meet evidential and legislative requirements. In the seminar I plan to outline the storage and archive management issues and a look at possible solutions that can be applied to tackle these."

Also presenting on Thursday will be Mike Newton the founder of Dedicated Micros and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) and CTO (Chief Technical Officer) of AD Group. His keynote afternoon session - 'Closing in on the Security and Operational Issues of IP CCTV' - is being held from 1:10 - 1:40 pm. Newton, the creator of the award-winning deterministic Closed IPTV concept, on show during IP Expo, is an extremely influential figure in the global security industry with a track record of innovation stretching back over three decades and has been rated as the UK's leading entrepreneur by Management Today magazine.

Said Newton: "I will be using the IP Expo seminar I am hosting to stress that, against the backdrop that TCP/IP which has created the revolution of the World Wide Web and now enables security devices such as CCTV and Access Control, it is important that we learn the lessons from traditional CCTV and apply these to external security devices. It is especially critical in this regard to ensure that they are adequately protected against the potential risk to the corporate network through hacking attacks and, to understand the "inverse needs" of security endpoints."
